Do I need a digital camera in order to use the software?
No. If you don't have a digital camera, you can have a photograph scanned.
What file format can I import into the software?
The software can open the following graphic file formats: JPEG, BMP, or PNG.
How do I email the finished project to a friend who may not have the software?
Because the software uses a proprietary format (.rwp), project files can only be emailed to other software users. However, you can email a JPG image of your project to anyone. To create a JPG, follow these steps:
- Under the Save Tab, click the Export JPG button.
- Save the JPG in a place you will remember.
- You are now ready to attach the JPG to your email and send it to someone.
The colors don't look accurate. Is there something I can do to improve them?
Ensure that your monitor setting (Help tab > Preferences) is accurate: LCD for laptops and flat screens or CRT for desktop monitors. When printing, be sure to print a high-resolution version of your image on premium glossy photo paper.
Note: HomeWorks takes great care in representing manufacturers' colors as accurately as current technology allows. However, product sample swatches should ALWAYS be present when making a final color decision.
Does shading change the product colour?
No. Although shading will adjust the lightness and darkness of a region in the project, it is intended to add realism. If you use this to adjust the colour, your project will not match manufacturer's product colours.
If you bring your project into the store, adjusting the shading does not mean you mix the colour in a different way.
How do I rotate the flooring to reflect how it will be installed?
- Mask the floor area as usual
- Apply a flooring on the mask
- Select the flooring mask (ensure that there are dotted lines surrounding the floor area)
- Under the Tools Tab click the Rotate button
- You can rotate the flooring by typing in the angle you want, or by clicking the present angles located directly below the Rotate button, until you are satisfied.
